Housing: US vs Nigeria rents
Compare US HUD Fair Market Rents with dated Nigerian rent records, in dollars, at the imported exchange rate.
The US side uses HUD Fair Market Rents: official rent benchmarks published by fiscal year for voucher areas. The Nigeria side uses dated rent records collected as a proxy — Nigeria has no equivalent official rent series, so the records are older, cover fewer places, and are not directly comparable to FMR methodology. Treat the comparison as an orientation, not a precise market measure.
World Bank PPP context: ₦195.02 per international dollar (2025). This is context only and is not an input to the rent ratio or Outbid score.
